Network-to-Network Interface Disclosure

April 23, 2001

No. BIA-1f

Subject:

9-1-1 Public Emergency Reporting Service (E 9-1-1) Display Screen and Service Printer Interfaces

Bell Canada announces the introduction of additional information that is transmitted between the E 9-1-1 Automatic Location Identification (ALI) System and terminals at the 9-1-1 Public Emergency Reporting Bureau.  This additional information allows support of E 9-1-1 capabilities to support Local Number Portability between Ontario and Quebec, to identify the cellular tower from which emergency calls are received, and to identify the telephone number of the Local Service Provider responsible for updating 9-1-1 subscriber records.  This information is transmitted between the ALI System and the emergency reporting bureau using existing interfaces.  These changes are expected to become functional in early IVQ 2001.

E 9-1-1 Service delivers details regarding the origin of an emergency call to the emergency bureau reporting bureau. Details such as the time and date, calling line number, street address can be received from the network by the terminal equipment at the emergency bureau.

Compatibility Impact:

Terminals described in Appendix 1 of the Bell Disclosure Document BID-0013 are not expected to be impacted because the additional information will be simply printed/displayed along with the currently available information.

For terminals described in Appendices 2, 5 and 6, the revised message formats need to be implemented if the user wishes to support the additional E 9-1-1 service capabilities outlined above.

Documentation:

These interfaces were previously disclosed in Bell Interface Document BID-0013, dated September 1996. The revised interfaces are described in Bell Interface Document BID-0013, dated April 2001. Bell Canada Interface documents are available in both electronic and hard copy formats. Bell will invoice recipients $50 for each electronic version, and $65 for each hard copy version. Previous purchasers of BID-0013 will be invoiced $15 for the updated electronic version and $20 for the updated hard copy version. These prices are subject to change without notice.
