Portability Database for Wireless Number Portability
Bell Canada announces the planned introduction of a database containing
number portability information associated with the introduction of
Wireless Number Portability WNP). In
response to a query from Mobile Switching Center (MSC) containing a
subscriber number, amongst other things, the database returns routing
information that can be used to route calls to a network switch serving
the terminating subscriber. The database, to support query/response from
MSC, is expected to be offered by end of 1Q2006.

Documentation
The interface is described in a technical
specification prepared by Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA).
The technical specification is titled Cellular Radiotelecommunications
Intersystem Operations (ANSI/TIA/EIA-41D-97).
Specifically, section related to NEPREQ operation is
relevant to query and to retrieve information from a Number Portability
Database.
