Notice of Minor Network ChangeMay 23, 1997
No. BIA-7a (Formerly SIA-7d)
Subject:
Message Waiting Indicator Tone
Bell Canada announces a change of the Audible Message Waiting
Indication (AMWI), as currently used on the Companies' DMS-100 switches. The change is
scheduled to begin by 1Q98.
The AMWI had been previously disclosed in TAPAC Bulletin No. 91-04, dated May 1, 1991.
In future, the standard Message Waiting Indicator Tone as defined by Bellcore will be used throughout the Bell network.
Compatibility Impact:
Some terminals that are designed to recognize a message waiting
indicator tone may be impacted. The standard message waiting indicator tone reverts to
normal steady dial tone after two seconds.

Bellcore Technical Reference TR-NWT-000506, LSSGR LATA
